I'm going to Indonesia, getting pretty excited for it and got most of my tripped all planned, except for the Sulawesi leg of my journey. I'm flying in to Makassar and from there I've got about 5 days to kill. Anyone been recently (or even not so recently) who can give advice about where to go, what to do/see, where to stay? Is Manado worth a visit?

I've heard parts of Sulawesi can be frought with tension and violence - what areas should I avoid?
