I have 6 hours at Dubai airport en route elsewhere. What is there to see within 30 minutes of the airport? and what is the best way to arrange this little trip. Is it worth hiring a taxi driver for afew hours, or taking a proper tour? Or is public transport sufficient and reliable to get into the city and back. Some one else has told me to just stay in the airport - with all the shops and high end architecture it is just a microcosm of Dubai anyway!

So any advice on whether its worth breaking free from the airport and exploring for a couple of hours? Thanks in advance for any input!
