Spend the day exploring Sweden on a day trip from Copenhagen. Only a short trip by ferry from Copenhagen, this tour will take you to the cities of Helsingborg, Lund and Malmo.
Follow the coastline from Copenhagen to Elsinore, passing through fashionable resorts and beautiful residential areas. Crossing the narrow strait between Elsinore and Helsingborg by ferry, you will get a great opportunity for a fantastic view of Hamlet's Castle - Kronborg - from the sea. The voyage across the Sound takes approximately 20 minutes.
Once you have arrived in Sweden, you will drive through the city of Helsingborg, before continuing to Lund. Lund is a university city from the middle ages - founded in 990 by the Danish King Svend Tveforkbeard (986-1014). The city was the religious, cultural and commercial centre of Scandinavia until the Reformation. Visit the Cathedral, which has a magnificent 14th century astronomical clock and the famous University of Lund. Enjoy a lunch stop en route (not included in the tour price).
Continue to Malmo, the biggest city in Scandinavia and the third largest in the whole of Sweden. Here you make a short sightseeing stop. On the way back to Denmark, cross the Sound once again, but this time on the magnificent Oresund bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen.
If you love castles, Denmark has almost as many fairy tale castles as it does fairy tales! Visit the picturesque region of North Zealand just outside Copenhagen where you will see Kronborg Castle made famous as the setting of Shakepspeare's Hamlet as well as the magnificent Fredensborg Palace and Frederiksborg Castle.
Leave Copenhagen behind as you head north through magnificent Danish countryside and coastline towards Elsinore and Kronborg Castle. Chosen as the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet, this magnificent renaissance castle is on the UNESCO world heritage list.
After lunch (own expense), your tour continues towards Fredensborg, where the Queen's summer residence of Fredensborg Palace is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park, bordering the idyllic Esrum Lake.
The next highlight on your tour is Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV in 1601 - 1625. This pearl of history, built in magnificent Renaissance style with a touch of baroque, is now a national historical museum, containing treasures of painting, tapestry, porcelain, silver and furniture.
Enjoy the best of Copenhagen by coach and boat on this tour of the city and harbor. Some of the city sights are best enjoyed from the sea, so take this opportunity to admire many wonderful towers and famous palaces. Your tour concludes in the very heart of Copenhagen at Gammel Strand, which is only a few minutes walk from Stroget, the main shopping street in the city.
