In one of the most Catholic countries in the world, religious festivals are always taken very seriously. The fascinating city of Belem, which sits at the mouth of the Amazon River, hosts the festival celebrating the Virgin of Nazaré. An effigy is carried through the water with a procession of worshippers in tow paying tribute. The fantastic atmosphere begins a few days prior, and lasts until the end of the month.Venue: Belem
